We had a great day at the Creekside Education Centre today.
When we arrived we met Natalie, our educator for the day, and she told us a bit about Deptford Creek and Thames River Basin. Then, after getting kitted out with waders, waterproof jackets and walking sticks, we headed out in the muddy, slippery Creek, keeping our eyes open for interesting artefacts. We learned about some of the buildings along the water's edge and carried out 'Duck Race' to investigate the speed at which the water was flowing. Then we headed back to the 'beach' to do some river dipping. After lunch we sketched the Creek from the excellent vantage point of the bridge, labelling a variety of features we had learned about during the day.
