Year 6 went to the Clapham Learning Centre to attend a programming lesson. We worked in groups of 3 and 4 and each group had a Lego programmable robot, a MAC and a coloured mat with a grid on it. We had 3 missions, first we had to program the robot to make it go around the edges of the mat. The second mission was to program the robot to make a figure of eight around two cones which were placed on the mat. The last mission was to come up with a series of commands to make the robot dance to a 30 sec long piece of music. We learned how to code and modify instructions on the computer and we downloaded our programmes onto the robot. We worked using a trial and improve method, meaning we tried out our commands and made changes to improve them. At the end saw each robots dance and voted for a winner. Please have a look at our video of the winning group.
