Year 1

Summer Term

What is Growing?

We are using  'Jack and the Beanstalk' to help us with our learning about growing plants.

Can you name and label the features of a plant?

Jack and the Beanstalk - BBC

We created this as part of a BBC commission. The fully commission included 10 song videos and 14 story parts. The purpose is to bring visuals to BBC schools radio. The animation had to be created at very low cost.

We are looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
We learning their names and also how to identify them according to their properties. Why not see if you can discover what these hidden shapes are?

What 3D shape names do you know? Can you learn the 3D shape song?

3D Shapes I Know (solid shapes song- including sphere, cylinder, cube, cone, and pyramid)

3D Shapes I Know (new pyramid version) This version includes only ONE chorus at a time, whereas the old version used to do 2 at a time. I didn't like that the old one felt too long each time. I've also included a section about "a pyramid" now.

Phonics and High Frequency words.
We are following Letters and Sounds during our phonic sessions. Here are some great websites and games to help you with your phonic sounds and high frequency words.

Remember to look at Phase 5

Autumn Term

Are You Ready to Play?
Please look at our curriculum overview at the bottom of our webpage.

We are using the book
'Traction Man is Here!'
by Mini Grey to help us with our learning.

Why not make your own Traction Man figure to have adventures with?

Where will he go?
Who will he meet?
What does he need to take with him?
How will he save the day?
Science Focus:
The Human Body
Can you label your body?

Spring Term

Park Life
Percy the Park Keeper and Our Local Area.

We are using 'Percy the Park Keeper' books
this term to help us with our learning.

We will be focusing on our local environment,
in particular Ruskin Park and Loughborough Junction
before comparing them with a village setting.

Mapping Skills

We have a small number of places in Year 1 and Year 4. Please call us or email to enquire further.
