Key question: Where are we in the world?
We will begin by locating the seven continents and five oceans of the world. We will learn about the difference between countries and continents and see where we fit, in the UK. We will learn about different climates around the world and locate landmarks and terrains on maps. Below are the skills we will be covering:
Locational Knowledge
- I can name and locate the seven continents of the world
- I can name and accurately locate the five oceans of the world
Place Knowledge
- I can locate hot and cold areas of the world in relation to the Equator and North and South Poles
- I have studied a small area in the U.K and in a non-European country and are able to confidently identify similarities and differences in human and physical geography
Human and Physical Geography
- Pupils can use a wide range of basic geographical vocabulary to refer to human and physical features

Geographical Skills and Fieldwork
