Understanding the World is a specific area of the statutory curriculum in the EYFS. It aims to support children to make sense of their physical world and their community. A child's personal experience is important in developing a sense of place and belonging, as well as providing building blocks to foster their understanding of our culturally, socially, technologically and ecologically diverse world.
