Summer Term Reading Texts

Each page of this fabulous non-fiction nature book is astonishingly beautiful. A mixture of real images and vibrant illustrations make each page feel like a nature scavenger hunt.

The children will learn unbe-leaf-able tree facts, see extraordinary trees from around the world, and the animals that call them home. Find out what trees do for us and how we are damaging them with pollution and deforestation.

Children have the opportunity first to 'say what they see’ before moving on to developing retrieval skills as a precursor to inferring. There are multiple opportunities for the children to develop their scientific vocabulary and also to begin to make comparisons.

This is a wonderful example of an illustrated, narrative-style non-fiction book. Discover the brilliant world of bears in this wonderful new book. Learn all about the eight different bears of the world, their likes, their homes and more. Who is the best climber and who is the fastest at catching fish?

The children will investigate the subject of bears through retrieving information and making simple inferences to make intelligent guesses. They will learn how to sort information into tables, match up facts and rank them.
